Sketch to BIM and Back Again
Morpholio Trace and Vectorworks are now cloud connected.
The design process is never linear. You sketch out a thought, start a 3D model, draft a detail, and then scribble redlines on top, all in an afternoon’s work.
Now, you can move through any workflow seamlessly with a brand new connection between Morpholio Trace and Vectorworks. The setup is easy; a shared storage area is accessible from both apps so you can send your sketches and vector linework made in Trace directly to Vectorworks. At the same time, you can move your drawing sheets, viewports, models from Vectorworks right into Trace.
These new features launch today with Update 5 of Vectorworks and the latest version of Morpholio Trace.
“Morpholio Trace was created to preserve the joy and immediacy of hand drawing while connecting it to the tools that carry ideas into reality. By integrating directly with Vectorworks, we’re giving designers a seamless path from sketching on iPad to working in sophisticated BIM and CAD environments.
It’s a way to keep drawing and mark-ups at the center of the design process, while ensuring every idea can be developed and delivered with precision.”
— Anna Kenoff, Vectorworks Director of Marketing, Cloud & Mobile and Morpholio Co-Founder
Here’s how it works:
Vectorworks to Trace
Save your Vectorworks projects as sheets, viewports, or models to the Vectorworks Cloud. Then, in Trace, tap “+” and choose “Vectorworks”. Select a file and start sketching to scale right on top of it.
.
Trace to Vectorworks
You can also easily send your Trace drawings to Vectorworks. Simply save your sketches as PDFs, images, or editable vector files directly to the Vectorworks Cloud. Then in Vectorworks, you can add these drawings to your presentations boards or make a 3D model from the vector linework.
