Landscape Architecture Professors Use Morpholio Trace for Remote Learning
As educators and students adapt to remote learning, Morpholio Trace has become an even more essential tool. The sketch is a primary means of communication in design education and just as important is watching the sketch grow and develop. Being able to watch the drawing process adds a whole new depth to the idea being discussed — especially between student and teacher.
Landscape Architect and Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky, Ryan Hargrove has been exploring how to translate this physical experience into the remote world that we currently live in. Combined with Zoom, Morpholio Trace has provided him and his students with a digital method to maintain the tactility of hand drawing as well as the intimacy of sharing the sketch as it builds up.
“[Morpholio Trace] was FANTASTIC! I can’t tell you how helpful and supportive the platform was during this incredibly turbulent time. As we shifted to online learning, Trace along with Zoom provided an amazing resource to our studio and ensured our interactions were not only capable but in many ways improved.”
You can read more about Ryan’s experience with Morpholio Trace on the American Society of Landscape Architects’ Blog. In the article, written with Bill Estes, ASLA, Robert Hewitt, FASLA, Ryan describes his teaching method using Morpholio Trace and Zoom.
