Take inspiration from the world around you! Ardian Zeqiri uses Trace stencils, pens, rulers and more to transform an everyday object into an incredible work of architectural imagination. His favorite Morpholio Trace features are Custom Stencils and the Perspective Tool.

“The Perspective Tool cuts time in half by not having to spread out long sheets of paper just to define your vanishing points. It’s all just so easy to set up. I would, and already have, recommend Morpholio’s Trace to every designer out there, from architects to fashion designers and everyone in between.”

Below is Ardian’s inspiring work where he has used the Custom Stencils tool to turn a simple lamp shade into an inspiring architectural screen study. You’ll never look at your everyday surroundings the same way again.

Here’s how.

1. Use the stencil tool to turn a photo of the object into a stencil.

2. Use the perspective tool to add architectural volumes to the stencil.

3. Using the stencil tool again, add details to the volumes. French curves are back!!

4. Transform a picture of clouds with the stencil tool to draw a sky.

5. Lastly add in people and trees to make the drawing come to life!

From Ardian:

“I pursued this design as a way to test the capabilities of Morpholio’s Trace app and what better way to do it then to take an ordinary household item and to apply its design to a new idea. One of the many great features of the Trace app is the customizable stencil tool. It gives you the ability to turn any image into a stencil and so I took advantage of this by turning my lampshade into a stencil. After this was laid out, the rest came intuitively. The perspective tool, another incredible feature, gave me the ability to match the perspective of the lampshade image, and to create an entire scene with ease.”

“As a senior project designer for an architecture firm, Morpholio’s Trace has become my new favorite toy.”

“I’m a 27 year old Kosovo refugee, I moved to the United States when I was 8 years old and was raised in Caldwell, NJ. I’ve been in the Bay Area now for 5 years and work as a Senior Project designer for an architecture firm in San Francisco. I work on a wide range of projects that include lab designs for universities, high-rise residential, mixed-use mid- rises, interior design, custom furniture, and landscape design. My parents taught me everything I know — the most important lesson was how to solve problems! (Mind you that’s probably why I chose architecture). I’ve been drawing, painting, and designing since I was 10 years old, & thanks to my father’s rigorous lessons, I’ve become pretty handy with a pencil.”

Growing up drawing, painting, and designing, I’ve always wanted to find better and better tools to work with but was also content with just my pen & paper. I was a bit reluctant in believing that the iPad & Apple Pencil would prove to be nearly as effective as my pen and paper. Immediately I recognized a big difference, which was how much your Apple Pencil slid across the screen in comparison to the pencil and the friction it has with paper. There was definitely a small learning curve, 3–4 sketches later, I was able to focus on my drawings rather than on how to use the Apple Pencil. Then two apps later, I used Morpholio Trace, and it was just logical. Everything I expected it to do, it would do, the stencils, the perspective tool, the brushes, all of it was just an architect’s dream. The perspective tool is probably my favorite feature though, it cuts time in half by not having to spread out long sheets of paper just to define your vanishing points. It’s all just so easy to set up. I would and already have, recommend Morpholio’s Trace to every designer out there, from architects to fashion designers & everything in between.”
