What is your personal belief on drawing and design?

My personal belief on drawing and design is all about connection. Connecting head and heart to hand and paper. Connecting lines, connecting ideas, connecting people. Architecture and design is about connecting the human-made built environment to its natural surroundings, connecting people to space. For me, the initial drawing and design process is best when an authentic hand-made approach is taken. There is no truer connection then when my pen in hand hits trace — the physical roll or on iPad with Morpholio.

What is your favorite feature in Trace and why?

My favorite tool features are the Super Ruler, stencils, and PDF Manager. I like keeping the art of architecture alive so I love the traditional drafting tools and methods. The PDF Manager is fantastic for redlining, especially on the go!

What is one piece of advice you would give other designers?

Get out of your head and into your hand (and heart)! The initial creative and design process should be intuitive, fluid, and natural. Don’t force it. Don’t overthink it. That comes later when you are in the detail and documentation phase. Have fun first, your design will reflect this ease.
